Easter Vigil

The Easter Vigil is a way to journey spiritually with Jesus from the time of his betrayal in the Garden of Gethsemane through his last breath on the cross.

Our vigil begins at 8pm Thursday, immediately following the conclusion of our Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) worship service, and continues through 3pm on Good Friday.

During this time, one or two congregants prayerfully keep vigil through silent prayer and/or reading scripture.

This year we will continue the tradition of keeping vigil in our sanctuary, and we also encourage congregants to consider keeping vigil in your home.  Click here to sign up or contact our deacons.

Whether you participate in the vigil at home or in our sanctuary, we offer the following three resources as possible readings to guide your reflection.

From Creation to the Cross

Reflect on the story of God as creator of the universe and our ever unfolding – and often challenging – relationship as children of God.

THE PASSION STORY (John 13 - 19)

The story of Jesus’ last days according to the author of the Gospel of John (John 13 – 19)

A LETTER FROM A BIRMINGHAM JAIL

Composed shortly after Easter 1963, The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail is as powerful and informative today as it was sixty years ago. As a congregation concerned with matters of justice and fighting injustice, we invite you to consider reading this letter.
