Music

The Senior Choir of the First Congregational Church of Woodstock performs at least one anthem each week, sometimes more  for special occasions such as Christmas and Easter.  They rehearse every 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM from September to May.  Participation is open to anyone with a desire to sing the praises of God.  The choir sings classical and contemporary music from Palestrina to Lennon and McCartney, Anglican chant to gospel and bluegrass.

The Handbell Choir performs once a month and on special occasions.  They also perform for various church functions, at area nursing homes and schools, and at handbell choir festivals.  They rehearse on Monday evenings at 7:30 PM, and newcomers are always welcome

The Hill Church Hillbillies is a loose collection of folks from the wider community who like the gospel bluegrass sound.  Instrumentalists and vocalists are always welcome to come to their jam sessions on the 3rd Friday of each month at 7:00 PM.  They perform a few times each year at various venues about town and at church services.  The director is Leslie Sweetnam.  For more information, e-mail the church office.

Special Music Events are held seasonally.  Past events have included a Festival of Lessons & Carols and a Messiah Sing around Christmas, and a performance of Paul Winter’s Missa Gaia for Earth Day.  Stay tuned for upcoming events!
