UCC SPECIAL OFFERINGS

We support several special offerings during the year to support the work of the wider United Church of Christ.    Neighbors in Need is solicited in the fall, while One Great Hour of Sharing is a spring request for disaster relief.  Strengthen the Church, an offering to support CTUCC Faith formation, Silver Lake, and Youth Ministry programs is held on Pentecost.

 

BOY SCOUT TROOP 27

The First Congregational Church of Woodstock is the sponsoring organization for Boy Scout Troop 27. We enjoy a longstanding relationship with the boys as well as the Troop Committee.

 

DAISY SCOUTS

Daisy Scouts are also part of the local church family, using our facilities for their meetings.

 

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Monday evenings at 7:30 pm in the church library.

 

COMMUNITY KITCHENS OF NORTHEASTERN, CT

FCCW Woodstock is the host site for the Monday meal.  Our congregation cooks on the second Monday of each month.  To get involved as a volunteer, contact Bruce Lyman or Bob Kirk.

 

THOMPSON ECUMENICAL EMPOWERMENT GROUP (TEEG)

“Empowering Individuals, Strengthening Families, Engaging Families”

TEEG is a human services organization that lends aid and support to families living in Northeast Connecticut. TEEG has a continuing commitment to provide programs that benefit all aspects of our community– from emergency fuel and food assistance, to mentoring and literacy programs for children.

First Congregational Church supports the TEEG food pantry, provides back-to-school backpacks, and holiday food baskets.

 

DAILY BREAD FOOD PANTRY

Interfaith Human Services of Putnam (IHSP) Daily Bread Food Pantry provides more than 225 families/individuals with food and personal care items on a monthly basis.  Today we continue to focus on meeting the needs of food insecure families/individuals and supplementing their dietary needs with nutritious, healthy foods.

FCC Woodstock supports this ministry with monthly collections of food items. Requested items are listed and the church newsletter and collected in Harrison Hall.

WHY ME, SHERRY’S HOUSE

Why Me is a Worcester Based non-profit organization created to help Central New England families cope with childhood cancer.

 

CHURCH WORLD SERVICE

Church World Service works with partners to eradicate hunger and poverty and to promote peace and justice around the world. 

In the U.S., CWS helps communities respond to disasters, resettle refugees, promote fair national and international policies, and provide educational resources. Around the world, Church World Service supports sustainable grassroots development, disaster relief, and refugee assistance, and educates and advocates on hunger-related issues.

Examples of our work with CWS include: blankets and cards for Mother’s and Father’s Day, School Kits and Hygiene Kits, and our participation in the Crop Walk.

The 2019 CROP Walk will be held on Sunday, October 6.  Please pre-register online and gather at the Putnam Farmer’s Market Pavilion on Kennedy Drive at 2:00 PM
