At the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, Sunday School classes for children and youth begin on the second Sunday in September and end on the second Sunday in June.

Classes are held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

All children and youth begin worship in the sanctuary for approximately 10 to 15 minutes and then proceed to classrooms downstairs after a brief children’s time with Pastor Jocelyn. Intergenerational worship services are held on the first Sunday of the month (communion Sunday) and various other times throughout the year.

Our spacious, colorful and inviting infant/toddler/preschool room is located on the downstairs level of the church. The room is fully equipped for all infant/toddler and preschool needs, including a crib, changing table and bathroom. Adult church volunteers supervise each Sunday. A speaker is located in the nursery so you are able to hear the worship service if you wish to stay with your child.

Kindergarten through Eighth Grade

On Sunday mornings our children explore the Bible using the Workshop Rotational Model. The Workshop Rotational Model is an exciting, dynamic approach to teaching the stories of the Old and New Testaments.

Children learn in a workshop setting. Each workshop focuses on the same story using different activities. Workshop rotations are fun, yet educationally rich and focus on using music, games, science, cooking, art and storytelling to teach lessons from the Bible. Occasionally children will participate in whole group activities extending the learning of that month’s theme.

Grades Nine through Twelve

Youth in high school continue to strengthen their faith each Sunday in a more relaxed setting, while exploring Biblical views of life situations and current social issues. The goal of our senior youth group program is to build relationships and engage in spiritual conversation that fosters spiritual growth. Learn more about our Youth Programs.

Seasonal Sunday School Events

The children and youth of our church experience various group events throughout the year including opportunities to sing during worship, participate in family craft/game/movie nights and act in a Christmas pageant. Our Sunday school year ends on Children’s Sunday, the second Sunday in June, when our children lead the worship service and celebrate with a family picnic and field day out on the Common.
