Faith In Action

Purpose

Faith in Action invites members of the congregation to live out our faith and values of loving our neighbors, caring for creation, and pursuing justice for marginalized members of our community and beyond.

Our goal is to encourage members of the congregation with similar interests and passions to engage in conversations, share resources, and explore opportunities to serve both in our church and in the wider community.

What we do

There are three major areas in which we seek practical ways to embody God’s call and Christ’s invitation to “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God” (and others):

  • Caring for Creation
  • Seeking Peace and Justice
  • Loving our Neighbors

We regularly participate in various collections for Community Partners, such as:

  • Squash Hunger – October to support The Daily Break Food Bank in Putnam.
  • Back to School Items Collection – July – Sept. to support TEEG’s efforts to assist children and families in our area.
  •  Christmas Gift Tags – November – December. Purchasing gifts in support of TEEG’s gift tag program.

Current initiatives include partnerships with Community Kitchen of Northeast Connecticut, TEEG, Daily Bread, among others. We also host a monthly Seniors Program at our church on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 1:30 to 3:30.

You can get involved by volunteering for specific activities or by joining the Core Team to plan events.

And that's not all!

In addition to these initiatives, Faith in Action grants funding to entities that are in line with our values of loving our neighbors, caring for creation, and pursuing justice for marginalized members of our community

In 2023, our congregation support the good work others are doing in our community and world through special collections totaling more than $2500 and grants (see list below) of over $4000.
